Exciting New Gaming Hotel Set to Develop in Phoenix

A novel hotel inspired by video games is gearing up to attract more enthusiasts in downtown Phoenix. The Atari Hotel, a planned 11-story venue dedicated to gaming, hospitality, and entertainment, is set to commence construction in 2026. This ambitious $124 million undertaking aims to merge retro-futuristic architecture with engaging gaming experiences and live events. The hotel will feature an esports arena, a concert hall, interactive gaming areas, a sportsbook, dining options, and retail spaces. Now, both gamers and the wider community can play a role in this venture.

Investment Opportunity for the Public

Developers have shared details about a public investment initiative linked to the Atari Hotel, first revealed in 2020. This funding effort aims to expedite the hotel’s development.

Introducing the Atari Hotel

Envisioned as a sprawling 118,000-square-foot facility, the Atari Hotel will be situated at the intersection of Roosevelt Street and Central Avenue in downtown Phoenix. According to Intersection Development, the Phoenix-based developers, the hotel will offer a variety of technologically advanced rooms and luxurious suites. In keeping with its nostalgic branding, the hotel’s design will be heavily influenced by the retro-futuristic styles popular in the 1970s and 1980s. Visual representations showcase vibrant, illuminated areas adorned with elements reminiscent of Atari’s early gaming history. The venue will also boast 84,000 square feet dedicated to immersive entertainment and video gaming, featuring both augmented and virtual reality experiences. A large venue capable of accommodating 2,000 guests is planned for concerts, esports tournaments, and other gaming events, alongside bars, restaurants, and retail outlets that reflect Atari’s unique aesthetic.

Projected Opening Date for the Atari Hotel

The Atari Hotel in Phoenix is set to open in mid-to-late 2028, following the start of construction next year. The project was initially announced in 2020 after Atari entered a licensing agreement with local developers True North Studio and GSD Group. Besides Phoenix, similar hotels were also planned for major cities like Las Vegas, Chicago, Denver, San Francisco, Seattle, and Austin, Texas. Over the years, the development team for the Phoenix location has evolved, with Intersection Development now leading the initiative. In 2023, a parcel of land measuring 46,124 square feet at Central Avenue and Roosevelt Street, previously occupied by KOY and other radio stations, was acquired for the project.

A Gaming Paradise Awaits

Naturally, guests at the Atari Hotel can expect an abundance of gaming options.

Becoming the First Immersive Gaming Hotel in the Western Hemisphere

Recently, the developers of the Atari Hotel revealed a Regulation A Tier Two equity offering, allowing everyday investors to get involved in the real estate project. They aim to raise between $35 million and $40 million to finance the hotel’s construction. Jordan Taylor from Intersection Development expressed that, “Atari Hotels emerged from the concept of making hospitality as interactive as gaming itself.” He added that the Regulation A fundraising and community ownership model embodies this vision, providing an unprecedented opportunity for gamers, pop culture aficionados, Phoenix residents, and investors to contribute to the creation of the first immersive gaming hotel in the western hemisphere. Minimum investment amounts start at $500, enabling fans, gamers, and locals to acquire real ownership stakes in the property. Developers have announced that rewards for investors may include participation in the hotel loyalty program, personalized digital certificates, and access to exclusive events and experiences.
